REQUIEM FOR A RUSTLER
Second in the Cournoyer Brothers Trilogy
The notorious Sully Gang is running out of luck, and the law is closing in fast. With cattle rustling turning deadly and a botched raid forcing their hand, the gang—led by the cunning Jack Sully and his loyal men, the Cournoyer Brothers—heads north to the Missouri and beyond, crossing into Montana. The gang’s livelihood depends on driving stolen cattle and horses back and forth across the U.S.-Canadian border, but a fatal mistake leaves one of their own dead and the gang more vulnerable than ever.
Back on their home turf near Ponca Creek, Jack Sully and his gang face mounting pressure from the relentless South Dakota lawmen and angry cattle barons determined to reclaim what’s theirs. Ranches once safe are raided, hideouts no longer secure, and lawmen with eyes everywhere hunt the gang. But Jack and John Cournoyer aren’t men to be taken lightly. Locked up in a South Dakota jail, they prove they won’t stay behind bars long, staging a bold escape with the help of their loyal gang. Determined to honor their vow to leave no man behind, the gang stays united, moving their operations across the South Dakota-Nebraska border to dodge capture and regroup.
The cattlemen, however, are just as determined, and they’ve enlisted a few aces of their own: spies who slink into the gang’s inner circle. A traitor is revealed, leading to a ruthless betrayal, and when the cross meets a double-cross, the gang narrowly survives. Unaware there’s yet another traitor in their midst, the Cournoyer Brothers face a turning point as the stakes rise higher than ever. Will the Cournoyer Brothers escape this tangled web, or will they fall victim to the unforgiving West?

RUSTLERS, RENEGADES, AND ROGUES
First in the Cournoyer Brothers Trilogy
The three eldest brothers of a Lakota Sioux family in 1880’s South Dakota are leading free lives on a large family ranch until the encroachment of modern society and white culture takes over.
After the passing of their father the boys leave Indian Boarding School and the abuses it entailed, joining up with the notorious cattle rustler Jack Sully. Together the Sully Gang steals more than 50,000 head of cattle and innumerable horses from 1885-1915.
During the rustling years, the brothers navigate the unpredictable weather of the prairies, conflicts and close calls with ranchers and settlers, and the growing destruction of their Lakota heritage.
The brothers do their best to keep the “old ways” alive. They respect and honor the culture of their ancestors, while fighting against the fences – literal and figurative – imposed on them by government and modern society. This takes them across South Dakota and into Wyoming, Nebraska, Montana and even Saskatchewan, Canada.
